The central, semantically interoperable data repository enables health data to be stored in a secure, highly structured manner and in line with privacy laws. Patient records can be created and then continuously expanded with further information collected during the provision of care. This centrally held data can be retrieved and then used in different systems\u2014including all nursing centres, medical practices, and hospitals in Catalonia in the future. Data is processed and stored in modules, separately from applications. This eliminates the need for interfaces between systems, reducing IT costs as a result.
