German IT partners to support Switzerland’s national PROMs programme

vitagroup is partnering with healthbrain to support the delivery of Switzerland’s national programme for the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), commissioned by the Eidgenössische Qualitätskommission (EQK). The initiative aims to embed patient-reported outcomes into routine care and advance quality development across the country’s healthcare system.
Following a national procurement process, the programme was awarded to a consortium led by healthbrain bringing together expertise from clinical, research, patient representation and digital health. The technical solution is based on the international openEHR data standard and delivered via vitagroup’s vendor-neutral, open data platform – the Health Intelligence Platform (HIP) – designed to enable the scalable use of structured health data.
Enabling comprehensive patient view
The programme initially focuses on orthopaedic care pathways, including hip, knee and shoulder treatments, following patients from hospital admission through post-discharge follow-up. In addition to PROMs, Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) and Clinician-Reported Outcome Measures (CROMs) are being collected to provide a more comprehensive view of treatment effectiveness.
The initiative is being carried out as part of a national pilot from April 2025 to December 2027 and is intended to generate practical experience in capturing, analysing, and meaningfully using PROMs data in everyday clinical practice. The system has been live since November 2025, with the first patients already onboarded and PROMs integrated into routine Workflows.
By supporting this project through the Health Intelligence Platform, we are helping to establish a sustainable infrastructure for quality-driven care in Switzerland.
