Interview with Rachel Dunscombe, CEO openEHR International
As CEO of openEHR International, Rachel Dunscombe highlights how open platforms provide the structured data framework essential for AI development in healthcare. In our Interview, she emphasises that openEHR stands as the only global standard explicitly designed to structure healthcare data for optimal AI use.
How do open platforms help AI
Open platforms are essential for AI and the future, and the reason is that we need great data. At the AI Summit that was recently held in Paris, that was one of the major findings. And openEHR is the only global standard that actually defines how you store data that can be used for the likes of AI. So, really, we’re looking forward to a future where we can enable AI and the cognitive age to happen.
Do standards need to adapt to AI?
The open standards and all of the standards are going to have to evolve as we move into an age of AI – cognitive age. What we’re seeing is the standards bodies working together and talking about AI. I think it’s a new horizon for some people, but really, those standards are going to have to grow to enable AI to operate safely.
